14. SHADY GROVE
Looking up, you see no stars.
Here, the trail passes through a grove shaded by a thick tangle of bare branches. The leaves that belong on those branches are on the ground, dry and brittle.
As you walk, the dry leaves crunched under your feet, and you can’t help thinking that it’s lucky there’s no fire pit here, because a single spark might set the whole grove ablaze.
